Northern Territory

Northern Territiory Tourism Brolga Award Winner 2000

Mike Keighleys' FAR OUT ADVENTURES has established itself as one of Australia's leading niche' market tour operations.

Mike is a fifth generation Aussie who focuses on real Australian experiences as diverse as four wheel drive camping safaris deep into Arnhemland in the Northern Territory to staying at the luxurious El Questro cattle station in the Kimberley. Accommodation can range from five star hotels to camping under a million stars on a million acre cattle station - or a night at a classic Aussie Bush Pub. Transport as varied as Jet Ranger helicopters to off road Four Wheel drives. Cuisine as wild as eating Aboriginal bush tucker to gourmet meals at some of the country's best outback restaurants...

Wildlife - join Mike as he goes looking for wildlife - crocs, dingos, lizards, snakes, kangaroos .... get up close and personal - or let your camera do it for you!

Birdlife - travel to Billabongs and Wetlands to see some of the amazing birdlife of the Top End.

Aboriginal Art & Culture - camp out in Aboriginal lands, sing around the campfire with Mike and his Aboriginal friends, travel to intriguing rock art sites and visit tribal lands to see real artists and view their work.

Mike has an international client base from all walks of life - celebrities wanting to 'get away from it all' , film crews doing wildlife documentaries, writers, journalists and photographers looking for that unique story, corporate clients 'escaping' from the rat race and a host of travellers (some with with families) who just want to get to the 'REAL' Australia.

Mike is totally committed to being 'out there' with his guests and seeing all goes to plan. When not on tour he is at his office designing itineraries, out and about looking at accommodation options and exploring new locations - or pursuing his childhood passion of caring for wildlife. As a Savannah Guide Mike takes time out each year to attend Savannah Guide workshops held at remote locations across Northern Australia to share knowledge of the unique landscapes, culture and wildlife of Northern Australia.

FAR OUT ADVENTURES aim for excellence and have been recognised with a Northern Territory Brolga Award for Excellence in Heritage & Cultural Tourism, National Finalists in Heritage & Cultural Tourism, and Savannah Guides - British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow Awards - Global Winners 2000.

At last you can see our 'backyard' on the big screen. If you love the movie - why not come with us and we'll show you around??

In 2009 we will be offering tailormade tours featuring the locations shown on the big screen - places we have covered before in four wheel drives, helicopters and even from the ocean in zodiacs. Darwin, Kununurra, the Bungles, Wyndham, the stunning Carr Boyd ranges and more.

We love the area so much we named our daughter Kimberley Skye - and yes - she is as wild and untamed as the landscape!!

We can design you a Private Tour -- and can include a helicopter to get to the really remote spots... or join a small group tour that will depart from Darwin mid April. Email mike@farout.com.au for more details.

Testimonial.

"Australia's Northern Territory has a deep-rooted fascination for visiting Brits. A world away from the seductive hedonism of the East Coast, everything the rest of the world understands as the 'true' Australian identity seems to have its roots here. This is the spiritual home not only of aboriginal cultures who have lived here for tens of thousands of years, but also the pioneers of modern Australia, the drovers and farmers who scratched a living from the harsh beauty of the Outback. Not to mention a thousand Crocodile Dundees and one of the most fascinating ecosystems on the planet! However short a time you may have, Mike Keighley and Far Out Adventures can give you a rare insight into one of the 'lucky country's' richest treasures, the Northern Territory."
